INTRODUCTION

The NPORS is an accreditting body approved by the Health & Safety Commission (HSC). Independent of any trade association or training boards, the NPORS offers a more flexible approach to the training of operatives and supervisors regardless of trade or industry.

REGISTRATION

On Successful completion of a test of theoretical and practical operating skills, each operative will be eligible for inclusion onto the NPORS REGISTER and will issued with an I.D. CARD which includes their personal Registration Number and photograph. Operator registration will only be accepted on the necessary forms submitted by a NPORS REGISTERED TRAINING PROVIDER.

RENEWAL

Registration are for a period of 5 years for Construction & Agricultural Plant and 3 years for all other indutrial work equipment including all Lift Trucks.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must meet the minimum age applicable to the industry (i.e. Lift Trucks - 17yrs : Construction Plant - 18yrs) and have the necessary atitude required to operate the work equipment in a safe and proper manner.

OPERATING SKILLS TEST

All Operators must undertake and pass a test of both theory and practical operating skills as prescribed by the relevant body, i.e. NPORS - JIC - etc.

SAFETY AWARENESS TRAINING

Operator SAT courses should cover all relevant Code of Practise - relevant HSE Guidelines and relevant Legislation applicable to the particular item of work equipment to thus ensure that the operator has a good working knowledge of their legal duties and safe operating practice's related to their particular working enviroment. It is a requirement of the Construction Skills Certification Skills (CSCS) that all applicants must hold a current (within the last two years) SAT Certificate.
